You can drag and drop an image onto a tag in the main view and set it as the tag thumbnail. What is the main view? The main view is when digiKam is started. Select a tag in the left sidebar, you can now drag an image from the images onto the tag and set it as a preview. Tag List with Icons
I'm sorry, but I cannot get it to work. I attached a screenshot to show what I am trying to do.
