Never mind, It is present in the Edit menu, not the Tools menu. The documentation (Kate Handbook) needs to be updated to reflect this. |
Created attachment 150805 [details] screenshot of the tools menu SUMMARY There used to be a 'Read Only Mode' in the editor. It has gone missing. See attached screen shot. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open any text file in Kate. 2. Go to the Tools menu. 3. Look for 'read only mode'. OBSERVED RESULT The option is missing. EXPECTED RESULT It must be present. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 35 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've used the option earlier (maybe 2 weeks back?), it looks like it went missing after an update.
