STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set a gmail account
2. Sync your account
3. 

OBSERVED RESULT
No complete sync is done, the status bar shows the text "Unknown" and in Settings -> Configure KMail -> Receiving it shows: " Syncing folder Inbox 13333333%"

Running KMail from konsole gives the following output:
