SUMMARY
Spectacle requires "launching" twice to take a shot.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch spectacle (click menu, alt+f2, whatever).
2. Select any shot type, click "Take a new screenshot".
3. Spectacle disappears entirely. It doesn't just lose focus so you can e.g. click a window or highlight a rectangle to picture, it's gone. "Launching" again (any way, see step 1) brings it back such that spectacle is backgrounded but active so I can select that rectangle or window.

EXPECTED RESULT
Click "Take a new screenshot" is the only requirement. I shouldn't have to "launch" it twice to use it.

Can't reproduce and never experienced that issue.
Can you wait for 22.04.* to land in Gentoo packages and test again?
Comment 2 Andreas Sturmlechner 2022-07-15 18:10:03 UTC
22.04.3 is available in ~arch and just needs to be put into /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords to test it.

Running spectacle twice is still needed with 22.04.3. I deleted all spectacle-related files in ~/.config to no effect.

This seems to be fixed.
