The options already exist to make Spectacle very simple and do what comparable tools already do, are you suggesting that the defaults should be different? We generally don't do this; see https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Design/Lessons_Learned#Basic.2Fadvanced_modes. If the UI is too complex, the solution is to visually simplify it, not further complexifying it by adding a second mode (and of course a mode switcher UI to control switching between them). However you're in luck as there is work in progress to redo spectacle's main UI and rectangular region mode to be more like that, and to look a bit simpler. I don't have a timeline though. |
