This works with screen edges, but not with key shortcuts. Say, you are in "current workspace" mode and want to switch to "only windows of this application" mode or "on all workspaces" mode. If you have set key shortcuts to this, it won’t switch but you have to exit the effect and press the other key shortcut afterwards.
