Description Christian (Fuchs) 2022-06-15 14:23:36 UTC
The following list are regressions of the present window effect rewritten in QML over the 5.24 one:

Functional regressions:
- Mouse buttons can't be configured, e.g. to pull a window to the current workspace
- filtering does only filter windows of the current screen instead of all screens, which is extra critical since the effect is used to show multiple windows of the grouped app if you click it in the taskbar, you then can't properly filter
- filtering isn't re-enabled on typing when you choose windows via keyboard nav (input field loses focus and doesn't regain it)
- close buttons can't be disabled by config

Visual regressions:
- Panel can't be configured to be shown
- blur can't be disabled (oddly enough it can be in the other effect?)

I consider the functional ones of high criticality, especially the broken filtering. The rest is more of a "nice to have"

One issue per bugzilla ticket please. :)

That said,

I don't think these are likely to come back. Gone are the days of excessive over-configurability in KDE software. :)

I assume the other new effect is over-configurable then, given that it has a checkbox for blur.

Oh well, local patches it is.

Thumbing up the issue. The 5.24.7 version was much better and there much more settings than there are right now. The performance drop is also noticiable.

Any progress on this? I would like to have previous version of the Present Windows functionality.
I've created a related RQ. Please, support request to restore and keep the old Present Windows Effect:
