We should debug the issue instead of offering a workaround. :) Can you also please file another bug report for the Plasma crash? I would also be interested to know if it's fixed in Plasma 5.25, as we did a lot of multi-monitor work there. Any chance you could upgrade to the Plasma 5.25 beta (or the final release in a week and a half) and see if it's fixed there? I'll file another bug for the plasmashell crash--I suppose under the plasmashell component and not kwin wayland, although it happens only on wayland? I won't be able to upgrade to 5.25 until probably the first bugfix release since I'm on Manjaro testing and that's how they usually do things. I'll report back (new bug report) if it's fixed though.
