Fade out is feasible, but animating the hover highlight is not done intentionally, as this tends to make the UI feel slow and sluggish. I should have specified; when I mentioned transitions when hovering over the categories, I meant for the application icons that appear when hovering over the category that contains them - maybe something like a fade in + translate down. Of course, I recognize that this also may not be feasible, and it would need to be able to be turned off in preferences for users who experience motion sickness from on-screen animation. |
