SUMMARY
Enter ALT-F2 and type something, like konsole. After the first or second letter, krunner hangs. Killing makes it start again, but it will hang again after the first letter.
Some time ago, the same problem has been fixed once before (see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432062)


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Type ALT-F2
2. Type something to krunner, like konsole or xosview
3. krunner hangs

OBSERVED RESULT
krunner hangs

EXPECTED RESULT
krunner should render found results and should not hang.


SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.15.32
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.94.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
nvidia: 515.43.04

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Not tested using wayland on non nvidia platform. Works fine using X11 (nvidia - non nvidia not tested)

Cannot reproduce on X11 or Wayland with an Intel HD 620 iGPU.

Can confirm KRunner being unreliable with Nvidia on Wayland (Plasma 5.25 on Arch), it usually doesn't respond anymore after starting applications with it a few times by evoking it via meta key. Its UI then doesn't appear anymore at all and I need to kill the process to make it work again. Indeed I can't confirm this issue on Intel Wayland, so it's probably Nvidia-specific.

This is probably exclusive to NVIDIA.
Used to work correctly on 5.24.*

I can confirm, this is still a problem with KDE's git master from today on an up2date Gentoo ~amd64 system w/ Qt 5.15.5, nvidia 515.57 and egl-wayland 1.1.10-r1. This has been a problem for ages, long before GBM support was introduced by nvidia.

krunner works perfectly fine in a X11 session.

Yes, if my memory serves me right, I think it previously (long ago) also liked to freeze with its window half drawn after evoking.
