SUMMARY

Input fields from the panel like start menu and clipboard are slow to not usable. I only see this behaviour in the keepassx app as well. Other input fields like system settings are not affected.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Start Menu
2. Search input — type


OBSERVED RESULT
Erratic appearance of the characters or not at all. Sometimes long pressing keys, sometimes not.

EXPECTED RESULT
Quick result of characters appearing after typing

If it happens in other non-KDE apps as well, I think there's little chance this is a bug in KDE code. Are you using any input methods like IBus or FCITX?

Thanks for your feedback. I am not really familiar with input methods. I
looked up iBus from the menu and when calling iBus preferences I got the
message that it is not running. I started iBus from the options and input
typing is fine everywhere. Also, after restart.

Sounds like an issue elsewhere indeed. Glad you managed to get it working!
