I've been waiting hours trying to unpack this rar archieve with ark:

And cancel the task.

While WinRAR under wine extracts it in 10 mins.

FWIW ark (using the Unarchiver backed) extracted this for me like in 10 seconds

It seems problem isn't happening if one use Extract archive to.. command from dolphin context menu, but exists if you open rar file with ark GUI and choose Extract command from it. In this case "Extracting 62 474 files" notification should appear in plasma's right bottom corner and it never ends. Could you recheck?
