SUMMARY
Can reproduce on both X11 and Wayland. Possibly bug 405267 is related.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. drag a file from Dolphin to desktop and do not release the mouse button
2. while the mouse pointer is over desktop, press ESC key
3. 

OBSERVED RESULT
drag-and-drop is completed - the context menu opens

EXPECTED RESULT
drag-and-drop is aborted and consequently the context menu does not open

On Wayland I can also reproduce when dragging a file to another folder in Dolphin.
On X11 drag-and-drop in Dolphin is aborted as expected when I press ESC.

Weird. I can reproduce even with another user account created right now.

Even weirder: cannot reproduce on Plasma 5.25 beta.

As pointed in the newer bug 459782, this bug only occurs if 'Disable while typing' is enabled in Touchpad KCM.
