STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Go to eg. https://matplotlib.org/3.1.0/gallery/widgets/rectangle_selector.html
2. Drag and drop the image with the graph onto itself

OBSERVED RESULT
Most of the time the dragging cursor + preview stays where it was dropped, sometimes it blinks. All ghost previews and cursors vanish, when clicking somewhere else.

Cannot reproduce; works for me on that website with Firefox 100.0 in native Wayland mode and git master KDE stuff.

Seems to be fixed in master.
