I can confirm this. It ONLY happens in the file picker with folders of large amounts of images, as it doesn't seem to be a problem at all in Dolphin. Sometimes you can "nudge" it to generate more thumbnails by changing icon sizes, but it doesn't work most of the time, and often makes you lose your place. This is very annoying. Mousing over the thumbnail doesn't have any effect in my case. Any movement on this? It's pretty annoying for artists and photographers. Is there anything users can provide to help fix this issue? They could put together a bug bounty of more than $1,000. That would probably be enough to entice a developer capable of investigating and fixing the problem to do so. Or they could directly pool their money to hire a developer to fix it (which would probably cost more than $1,000). Or they could find a technical friend and convince that person to do it. Or they can learn programming skills and fix it themselves. Beyond that, I'm afraid it's just a waiting game. Perhaps I should clarify: Is there any *information* a user can provide to help debug this issue? At least for future reference, are the specific kio operations logged anywhere, to find a particular point of failure? I think a developer just needs to investigate it at this point. Perhaps notably, this issues occurs regardless if the user is using an SSD or not, opposed to HDD. |
