Sure it does. :) Right-click on desktop > Configure > Icons > check the "Show Tooltips" checkbox. (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > Sure it does. :) Right-click on desktop > Configure > Icons > check the > "Show Tooltips" checkbox. You're right Nate, the option exists and it's well hidden. It deserved to be enabled by default, at least on Neon it isn't! The tooltip could contain more relevant information according to the file type, as in Windows. In Windows a video file for example, the tooltip displays more information like, resolution and duration, the same happens with audio files (duration) and image (resolution). The Plasma desktop tooltip currently has duplicate information, I see no need to display the icon and filename! Would it be possible to edit this bug report, adding this information, or do you recommend creating a new one? Feel free to file other bug reports requesting improvements. I'm not sure we can turn them on by default on the desktop, for the same reason that Dolphin's own file/folder tooltips aren't on by default: they are quite large and we thought most people would find them visually obtrusive. If you're not one of those people, feel free to turn them on! :) |
