SUMMARY
***
When working with Okular annotations, I can select different tools by pressing "1", "2", etc. However, when using a PoP-up note, these keyboard shortcuts are not working anymore. I have to click on the annotation toolbar, to get the shortcuts working again.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a pop-up note, write something in it and exit it.
2. Press 1, 2, etc. to change the annotation settings

OBSERVED RESULT
The shortcuts for annotation settings are not working.

EXPECTED RESULT
Pressing 1, 2, etc. should switch the annotation settings

The keyboard focus gets lost when the popup note closes, it's not only annotations shortcuts but also the up/down keys for scrolling that don't work either for example

I use differently-colored inline notes at 50% opacity if that helps as a workaround, I find them to be more versatile.

Hmm, actually that doesn't seem to help, any sort of note open/close seems to stop annotation number shortcuts from working again.

Luckily I am able to regain focus by moving Quick Annotation Toolbar out and snapping it back in its place (by dragging it from the parallel lines next to each other if that makes sense)

Hmm sorry, hiding and showing the Quick Annotation Toolbar from Settings > Toolbars Shown seems to cut it.

Toggling Menu > Annotations also works, and is quicker at least in my workflow
Comment 7 Alessandro Griseta 2026-01-11 11:22:57 UTC
Double-clicking also seems to cause the focus to go back to annotation shortcuts, at least after toggling Annotations via keyboard shortcut (and seeing that doesn't have the same effect of making the annotation shortcuts work again).
Comment 8 Alessandro Griseta 2026-01-11 11:41:52 UTC
Hmm ok so double-clicking works even when the toolbar isn't closed/reopened with keyboard shortcuts
