SUMMARY
When you add a capital umlaut in the top line of the text comment, the top part is cut off (see image). This makes the character look like a different one. Eg. Ä looks like A.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any PDF
2. Add text comment (Alt + 5)
3. Write an umlaut (mutated vowel) in the first row (eg. ÄÁÀĚÊ)

OBSERVED RESULT
Top part (eg. dots, lines, etc.) of the capital letter is missing.

EXPECTED RESULT
Character is shown correctly.
