SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. enter new investment "buy" data for transaction
2. click on the "Enter" button
3. CRASH! Entire program blows up every time 

OBSERVED RESULT
Program immediately closes - no investment transaction can be saved 


EXPECTED RESULT
I expected the investment transaction section of the program to work properly

Linux MATE desktop environment 1.24.0
O/S: Linux (x86_64) release 5.4.0-104-generic
kmymoney version:  5.0.8

5.0.8 was released over two years ago; there is not much the team can do to support that version.  If you can't find a more recent package for MATE (current version is 5.1.2, released last June) you can try an appimage: see https://kmymoney.org/appimage.html for instructions and download.  Let us know if you still get a crash with a more recent version.
