SUMMARY
Subpixel antialiasing setting does nothing

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run KDE Neon developer in qemu:
quickget kdeneon developer && quickemu kdeneon-developer.conf
2. Open system settings and verify that font antialiasing and RGB subpixel is turned on.
3. Screenshot the machine window. Zoom into the image and verify that no subpixel antialiasing is present.
4. Install to the local disk, reboot, perform a system update, reboot again, repeat steps 1, 2, 3 and verify that there is still no subpixel antialiasing.

OBSERVED RESULT
The subpixel antialiasing setting has no effect. No subpixel rendering ever happens outside of the popup demo that demonstrates what subpixel antialiasing looks like.

EXPECTED RESULT
Subpixel rendering should be performed if it is enabled in settings.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Tested with KDE Neon user, testing, and developer images downloaded on the day of bug reporting, installed to virtual disk, and fully updated.

Works for me on bare metal in Fedora 35. Could be a VM issue, or it could be an issue with Neon's fontconfig. IIRC we've had that issue before.

Works for me, too, if that somewhen fails that is rather an issue inside the other parts of the rendering stack.
