Whether it's consistent or inconsistent depends on your definition of consistency. :) In general, the definition we use is that similar things should look similar, and different things should look different. In this case, the italicized text is used for items that really are different: they're symlinks, not real items. So I don't think that inconsistency is a valid reason to change this.
