SUMMARY
Opening the overview and typing any search term causes first letter entered twice


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Overview effect with meta+w
2. Search anything like 'firefox' quickly

OBSERVED RESULT
'firefox' gets typed as 'ffirefox' the first 'f' gets repeated twice

EXPECTED RESULT
The first letter is not repeated and it searches for firefox not ffirefox

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It can be mitigated by typing only first letter  and when the search results start appearing then continue typing rest of the term !

This issue only exists in wayland session !

Same on my Arch Linux running Plasma 5.24. I can't reproduce consistently though.

This happens in my NixOS unstable as well.

In my case it seems to only happen the first time the Overview effect is triggered after reboot, afterwards it works as normal.

Archlinux wayland, multimonitor. Happens here as well, each time I'm opening up overview.

Can reproduce on neon unstable when invokating Overview for the first time after login.

I can still reproduce this. On my setup it occurs the every time right after activating the effect (i.e. you invoke Overview, start typing, first letter is duplicated, clear the search bar without closing Overview, start typing again, the first letter is no longer duplicated), not just the first time after login. I have not been able to reproduce this on X11, it seems to be isolated to Wayland sessions only.
