digiKam manages image collections and is not intended or designed to just open an external image. You are looking for showFoto. Like digiKam, this is also part of the Windows bundle. showFoto also includes the OpenGL viewer and all image processing plugins. Maik I don't see any problems with the MOV file on Windows either. Just as a question in the room, could it also be that ffmpeg uses hardware acceleration on some computers and that's why there are problems? ffmpeg -hide_banner -hwaccels Maik (In reply to Maik Qualmann from comment #1) > digiKam manages image collections and is not intended or designed to just > open an external image. Specifically how would I use it to open an image in a specific view? Perhaps a different program dedicated to viewing only would be quicker. (showfoto takes several seconds to launch) >showfoto takes several seconds to launch
Go to Setup/plugins and disable all unwanted tools. This will speed-up start stages.
To assign Showfoto with you preferred image format, change Windows mimetypes-applications table.
Anyway, if Showfoto is not the desired image viewer for you, there are plenty of programs under Windows to do this task. In all cases, as Maik said, this is not the role to digiKam...
