1. Where *exactly* were they originally? 2. Did you screen resolution change at all? 3. Are you using the setting to make icons align to the right, or be arranges in columns instead of rows? 4. Have you changed the sorting mode to anything different? 1. Home icon is in the top left corner, Trash icon is under it 2. Screen resolution is 1080p and always has been on both of my screens (laptop + monitor, but laptop is always disabled) 3. and 4. I use the desktop heavily, and it has been unusable since I updated end of February. I have no idea why it wasn't affecting me until then. There seems to be a minor pattern in how the icons end up, sometimes, like there's something attempting to tie them down that just stretches, but there's a lot of noise affecting whatever pattern it is I never change screen resolution I tried changing the alignment once, and changed something briefly (icons were randomly positioned left aligned), but after update two days ago, it is back to how I described at beginning Actually changing alignment does always clearly change how the icons are aligned in a somewhat predictable way, like, I can see the icons that used to be in the top left changing to bottom left or top right when I change either alignment top to bottom or left to right respectively, but there is always some randomness applied to where they end up I should also mention that for me this often happens when waking up from sleep too, not just a full reboot. It just doesn't always happen from sleep, but always from reboot Also, the issue appears to be fixed, or at least my icons maintained their place after one full reboot for the first time in weeks, after I followed a random reddit thread and deleted /home/cache/icon-cache.kcache and rebooted Deleting the config file is only a temporary fix I switched a bunch of the alignment settings back and forth before I deleted the file the first time, and now it's all lumped together on the left side of the screen. Seems to be ordered alphabetically now/ Waldo, your issue is very likely something subtly different; would yo mind submitting a new bug report that s ummarizes all of that information? Thanks! I haven't had the chance to test this yet, I will let you know. I re-tested this today, first time I logged in my icons were already missing. Later, I left my laptop idle for a while and when i returned to it my icons were gone again, so there is no change to this issue with Plasma 5.27.3. Matej, would you mind taking a phone video of the login process that will show the issue happening? I'd like to know *exactly* how it happens so I can try to reproduce the issue and investigate it.
