Sentry Crash Report:

Description Michael Josenhans 2022-01-24 18:25:18 UTC
SUMMARY
Suddenly the screen became black with bold white letters and a text appeared that the screen saver crashed and thus I should press : Strg+Alt+F2
and then enter: loginctl unock-session 3
then press: Strg+D
and then press Strg+Alt+F2.

Which however did not work and the black screen remained.

I could only switch off the computer and and restart it. When logging in as a wayland sessions, the mouse pointer and a black screen occurred. I can only switch off the computer afterward.

If I login in as a X11-session, everything works as expected. No problems. If I start a wayland session after login, same problem as before.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On my KDE Neon PC only!!!!!
2. Start PC and login as X11-session, everything works fine.
3. Start PC and login as wayland-session, black screen and mouse pointer visible. Nothing else.

OBSERVED RESULT
The wayland session does not work.

EXPECTED RESULT
The wayland session work in a similar manner like the X11 session-

I have just re-filed this bug report for kscreenlocker, which I assume you were referring to.

However, I am unfortunately unable to reproduce your issue across different systems.
The issue you are describing usually happens after doing a larger Plasma update and locking the screen during it. But it should definitely not occur after a reboot.

Could you please check whether this is still an issue for you on a recent version?
If so, please provide more details on your setup, such as your GPU and other hardware configuration.

If only the mouse pointer is visible after logging into a new session, this does not appear to be an issue with kscreenlocker, but would be something separate to the first issue you described.

I had to reinstall Kdeneon. I no longer have this problem.
