I've tested this just now. Works for me. Steps taken; 1. Downgraded Kate to an old version with the command 'sudo flatpak update --commit=e29450fe87dfc3f7244eca6dfbad5863faa36487a80dcecbc2c210c8c4ad50a0 org.kde.kate' (there were no updates available, so this was necessary to "create" an available update so I could test this) 2. Verified the downgrade. Discover shows update available from 25.08.0 to 25.08.2. 'flatpak update' also shows available update. 3. Verified that Kate's info page shows 25.08.0 4. Started update in Discover & immediately opened Kates info page. I see 'Downloading' in top right-hand corner of screen. The 'launch' button disappears during the upgrade, so you can't open the old version of the app during an upgrade to a newer version in Discover. 5. Download finishes shortly after & version changes from 25.08.0 to 25.08.2. No errors or warnings shown. Kate launches no problems after the update. No restart of Discover required. Is this still an issue for you? Because I cannot reproduce it. Thanks.
