Bug 448146

Thank you for reporting. Kdenlive on Mac runs only on MacOS 11 and 12 on Intel. It seems a craft build issue: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/993 .

The startup crash on Mac M1 is related to libgavl. The following steps allow to run Kdenlive on a Mac M1 with OS 12.3.1:
Go to the Applications Folder. Right click on Kdenlive (Ctrl+click), select "Show package content".

This shows the content package. Go to :
Contents > Framework

Delete the 2 files:
libgavl.dylib
libgavl.2.dylib

Close the Finder window, now Kdenlive starts correctly

solved the startup crash under Mac OS X 10.13.6

@Garth Fletcher: Could you test with daily master 1080? It should start without deleting the 2 files: libgavl.dylib, libgavl.2.dylib. Can you confirm?

I downloaded kdenlive-master-1080-macos-64-clang.dmg
and installed it.

When started it displays the "splash screen" for several seconds, then 
crashes.

I started with 1080 because that was the version you suggested in your 
earlier email.

Next I downloaded kdenlive-master-1081-macos-64-clang.dmg
which your last email suggested, and installed it.

Same result except is asked if I wanted to "reset the configuration file"
Whether I answered Yes or No, it still crashed shortly thereafter.

Thank you for the test. It doesn't start on M1 either. Investigation is ongoing.

@Garth Fletcher: Could you test with daily master No.1085 (or newer)? Hopefully it should start now without deleting the 2 files: libgavl.dylib, libgavl.2.dylib. Download the daily build from here: https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kdenlive_Nightly_macos/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/

Opens and runs, no crash - well done!

Environment is:
   Mac mini (2012)
   OS X 10.13.6

Kdenlive 22.04 runs on M1 in Intel mode (Rosetta) and on older MacOS down to 10.13.6 (High Sierra).
