My apologies, it seems I accidentally swapped the OBSERVED RESULT and EXPECTED RESULT parts. Thank you for the bug report. Unfortunately we were not able to get to it yet. Can we ask you to please check if this is still an issue with Plasma 5.27.6 (the latest released version as well as the LTS version). Created attachment 144452 [details] A lingering text edit control SUMMARY With Plasma 5.23.4, it is impossible to select text when renaming a desktop file. When the mouse is pressed over the text edit, it starts a drag-drop with erratic behavior, including filename missing, icon missing, text edit not disappearing and other unexpected behaviors. Refreshing resolves the issues. The attachment is a screenshot of this happening. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Press F2 on any file on desktop. 2. Try to select part of the filename. OBSERVED RESULT Part of the filename is selected. EXPECTED RESULT The file is dragged to another location with erratic behavior.
