STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. mount a CIFS share (I use autofs to mount mine)
2. use a client machine to play an audio from CIFS share with some player (I use Strawberry player)
3. suspend client machine to ram during playback
4. suspend server machine to ram
5. resume client machine

OBSERVED RESULT
the player tries to play the audio from unvailable CIFS share and then Plasma hangs.
Closing the player fixes Plasma bug on my system.

EXPECTED RESULT
Plasma should not hang due to unvailable CIFS share

Is this still happening in Plasma 6? A bunch of work has been done over the years to improve this.
