I think it would be very useful if users had the ability to rename their connected bluetooth devices. Sometimes bluetooth device names are very unpredictable, they are not indicative of the product you are using and can be hard to recognize in a setup with a lot of them connected.

I was thinking the system can store the original name while the user gets a chance to edit the name however they want.

You already can. There's a "Name:" text field on the device details page of the Bluetooth KCM. I'm using this for one of my Bluetooth devices, in fact.
