Description arne anka 2021-10-21 08:37:55 UTC
SUMMARY
After the recnt update to Plasma 5.23 almost all per-application configurations of notificationms are lost and cannot be recreated since apps do not appear in list

OBSERVED RESULT
Perviously I was able to disable notifications for apps like Mattermost that use their own notifications.
After the update, Mattermost is not even listed among the applications anymore.
Additionally, applications like x2gsession, that did not notify at all before, now suddenly pop up.

EXPECTED RESULT
To be able to configure per-application.
Since the notifications display the originating app quite distinctly, it should be easy to create a config per application (again).

Weird, this didn't happen for me, and you're the first person to report it. So it does not seem to be a widespread issue, at least.
Comment 2 arne anka 2021-10-21 15:08:03 UTC
Well, due to a different issue I had to remove all KDE/Plamsa related configuration, so it would have been recreated from scratch.
Even from my config's backup I cannot determine where this would be configured, and thus to compare then and now.
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2021-10-21 15:11:18 UTC
Yes, starting over with a fresh config would reset all your settings, inclusing those for notifications. :)

IIRC the configuration data for this is not KDE-specific as it is governed by a FreeDesktop spec. I don't know where it might live though, sorry.

"Yes, starting over with a fresh config would reset all your settings, inclusing those for notifications. :)"

No doubt -- but I should be able to configure the same settings again, and that's what's missing!
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2021-10-21 15:23:23 UTC
IIRC apps only get added to the list once they send a notification, so that would explain why the list is different from what you expect.

The real solution here is for you to find the old config file in your backup and restore it. As far as I can tell, there is no problem with KDE software here.

Would you please NOT close this before we are agreed we're on the same page?

As I tried to explain in the initial post, the feature to configure notfications of a lot of apps is entirely missing!

Whenever a notification of, say, Mattermost or X2GClient pops up, there's _NO_ way to configure anything anymore!
And, believe me, I get a lot of those notifications.

At the line with "x2goclient" there should be a button (like the sliders above) to configure notifications, but it's not.
Same thing with Mattermost, while for Teams or KDEConnect the button appears as expected.

What do you mean; what did this feature look like?

> Whenever a notification of, say, Mattermost or X2GClient pops up, there's _NO_ way to configure anything anymore
Can you take a screenshot of the notification when it's in popup form? Not in the system tray?
