Only in Folder View? It doesn't happen in Dolphin or one of the file dialogs? Also can you attach a sample file that is affected for you so we can test with the same data? Created attachment 142258 [details]
File I created from Brave that is a .desktop
Here is a file created by Brave as a shortcut to Netflix but turns out that happens with every Application Type as well, so it also happened with the ones coming with the system, like Dolphin. The way I tested them was by double clicking them on the applications list kioslave, the applications:/

I tested here by trying to open several of them on the applications:/ kioslave (I think I got that name right) then on the /usr/share/applications but both had the same result as trying to open from the Folder View on the shell I mean, if you open Dolphin and navigate to the location of the file in question and open it, does the same thing happen that happens when you open it in Folder View? It does. I also tested with existing ones that come with the system and the same thing happens. OK thanks. Moving to KIO, then. I've just encountered this today. And it was working as intended for me, for sometime, until i changed an applications icon today. That seemingly broke it. Now kioslave applications:/ & programs:/ just open the .desktop file with kate. More concerning is the change in behaviour is systemwide, all users, new & existing.
