Description Martin Tlustos 2021-10-05 05:15:48 UTC
SUMMARY
Today I was searching for upnpcontrol, but only the snap app showed up. I even looked whether it would show different sources, but it doesn't. Something like this happens quite often: I know that a flatpak exists, but it doesn't show up in searches. Flathub repo.

If you search for "upnp control" you get a bunch of applications. If you search "upnpcontrol" it doesn't find anything since there's nothing called like that.

Can you maybe tell us what you were looking for?
Comment 2 Martin Tlustos 2021-10-07 06:13:37 UTC
OK, when I look for upnp control, as you said, a bunch of programs pop up (some of which don't have anything to do with upnp by the way...), amongst them "upnp router control" from snap.
When only looking for upnp, the same "upnp router control" app from the flathub repo pops up, but the snap app doesn't...

What behaviour are you chasing after? I'm a bit confused.
Comment 5 Martin Tlustos 2021-10-25 14:01:28 UTC
Well, the best behavior would be if both versions would show (both snap and flatpak), because it's the same program. So if I were to search for "upnp control" both the snap and the flatpak should show up. If I search for "upnp" alone, also both versions should show up.

Can you attach a screenshot that shows the issue? Two are shown and aren't combined into one or something? What does `appstreamcli search upnp` show?

Search results of "upnp control"

both apps (snap and flatpak version of upnp router control) should appear in both searches, but they don't.
Comment 9 Nate Graham 2022-02-03 15:50:35 UTC
Can you paste the output of `appstreamcli search upnp`? and `appstreamcli search "upnp control"`

Thanks!

Seems like an issue in Discover, not an issue in AppStream. AppStream is showing "UPnP Router Control" as the top item, but we're failing to do so in the UI.

I can reproduce this FWIW. Updating the title.
