SUMMARY
Right-clicking on a file and then choosing Share > Send via Email... shows "Unable to create io-slave. Unknown protocol 'mailto'."

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right-click on a file in Dolphin. Choose Share > Send via Email...
2.

OBSERVED RESULT
A window titled "Error --- KIOExec" appears with "Unable to create io-slave. Unknown protocol 'mailto'."

EXPECTED RESULT
My preferred E-mail client should open (set to Firefox Web Browser) in System Settings > Applications > Default Applications > Email client
