SUMMARY

When modifications are made to an application .desktop file in the 'favorites' list, those changes are made to a copy of the .desktop, but the favorites menu still displays the original system version.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right click a favorite application
2. choose 'edit application'
3. change the icon. 
4. save.
5. Open the menu and notice the change does not appear to take effect
6. search for the application
7. notice the changed icon is present on the search result

OBSERVED RESULT

the favorites list displays the original unmodified version of the application

EXPECTED RESULT

the favorite list should display the modified version of the application

Also note that un-favoriting the application, then re-favoriting it causes the favorite to point to the correct modified version of the application
