Regression: with latest gwenview 21.04 thumbnails generation is very very slow and hangs for some seconds after a view thumbnails. This was very fast in the previous version.

The thumbnail cache seems to be broken. Everytime I start again gwenview all thumbnails have to be created again.

Experiencing this issue as well on Plasma 5.23.1 on Arch Linux. I have a folder on a slow HDD with 18k images, Gwenview used to take a second or two to open compared to images on an SSD. But since 21.04 it has become unreasonably slow, taking minutes to become responsive. The same applies for my folder with 250k images. This took, understandably, a bit of time previously to open and become responsive, maybe 5 seconds or so. But since this update, it takes several minutes.

Unfortunately, this regression is still in gwenview 21.12.0-0ubuntu1~ubuntu21.10~ppa1.

The thumbnail cache is not used and rebuilt every time I start gwenview in a folder with images, and thumbnail generation now takes minutes for larger folders with a few hundred images. In previous versions this was very fast.

Thank you for the bug report. Unfortunately we were not able to get to it yet. Can we ask you to please check if this is still an issue with Gwenview 25.08?
