Which version were you using, and can you please attach Help -> Show Krita log for bug reports and say what was that file called? Also check this manual page for potential ways to recover your files: https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html#how-to-recover-my-files Also note that this is not exactly a bug report; it's an issue, but it should be posted on the help forum on https://krita-artists.org/c/support/general-questions/26 . This website here - bugs.kde.org - is a development-focused website, so unless you provide information how exactly did it happen (so a developer can go and fix it), it's a user issue, not a bug report (user issues are still important, this is just a wrong place for them).
