Considering that currently there are many more types of Fill Layer than just a simple color layer, I'm not sure if it's really that trivial to design (to be convenient and easily understandable) and implement. When I created this ticket I was unaware of how poorly implemented fill layers were. See https://krita-artists.org/t/fill-layers-appear-poorly-optimized/34387 In summary: a single color fill layer ALWAYS performs worse memory-wise than a normal layer filled with a flat color. They can't be used like firealpacas's or Clip Studio Paint's 8 bit layers at all. Regardless, I mean, just look at the dialog. The "color" tab shows one color button to open a dialog to pick the color. The other tabs, which are far more complex, have all the settings on the tab. Like "pattern" shows a list of patterns for you to click on. You don't have a "select pattern" button that opens a dialog for you to choose a pattern. So I still think there you should be able to pick a color straight from the layer's properties without opening a second dialog, though iirc it was made this way because some users preferred the system color picker, so if it were changed it would have to have a convenient way to select the color on the layer dialog PLUS a button that works like currently to open the system color pick dialog for users who need it for some reason. Please keep value judgements like "poorly implemented" out of bugzilla. They have no place here. |
