Comment 1 Maik Qualmann 2021-08-31 09:05:58 UTC
Problem should be fixed in digiKam-7.4.0. The cause was a faulty connection to the QCompleter. Please test the pre-release AppImage from here:

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

Make a backup of your database in case you later want to switch back to an older version, an update of the database is being carried out.

The problem cannot be reproduced with digiKam-7.4.0. As a test I tried the Windows version of digiKam-7.3.0, no problems here either. We need the log from the terminal with the debug variable active if you assign face in the preview and there is a problem, as described here:

https://www.digikam.org/contribute/

I would love to, but I cannot test 7.4 appimages due to a binary compatibility issue with probably all Ubuntu 20.04 based distros. See #440689.
Comment 4 Maik Qualmann 2021-09-01 08:48:41 UTC
The log from the terminal would also be interesting for digiKam-7.3.0.

I cannot reproduce the problem. Bug 440689 is closed, please provide feedback as to whether the problem can still be reproduced.

Jens,

Please give us a fresh feedback as Maik ask previously, using digiKam 7.5.0 pre-release bundle available here:

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

Thanks in advance and happy new year

Seems fixed in 7.5 appimage. Thanks!
