Krarc does not interferes with the kio capabilities, so zips and tars are opened with zip: and tar: kio slaves (with some exceptions). Ark is a stand-alone program which is often used by KIO to pack or unpack. In recent times new slaves were added to KIO to handle more formats, but neither KIO nor Krarc can work alone. Ok.
