Description 2wxsy58236r3 2021-08-21 00:12:49 UTC
SUMMARY

Gwenview has a new UI since 21.08.0. However, I found that there is no way to open the settings / configuration menu in the new version.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open any image with Gwenview
2. Right-click and go through all menus and buttons
3. Press ALT
4. Open Gwenview through launcher (i.e. no image is loaded)
5. Repeat steps 2-3

OBSERVED RESULT

I cannot find any button or entry which opens Gwenview's settings.

Pressing ALT also does not help, no menu bar is displayed.

If I open a blank Gwenview instance (no image is loaded), right-click does nothing and no right-click menu is displayed.

Oh, I found that CTRL+M can make the menu bar visible again (I don't know why it becomes hidden after the update), and I can now access the settings. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

When the menubar is hidden, you can also click on the hamburger menu (the right-most button on the toolbar) to access menu features such as configuring Gwenview.

But I can't find the button for hamburger menu...

Oh, you don't have the toolbar visible. The hamburger menu button is on the toolbar.

Was that a deliberate thing that you did, or did the toolbar also disappear on its own?

I probably made menu bar visible but left the toolbar hidden before the update. Thanks for the hint.

So the only element which disappears on its own after the update is the menu bar.

Yes, that part was intentional.
