Cursor on track

Description empyreal 2021-08-20 15:48:36 UTC
No indication of currently played file in Tracks window or in Playlist. No scroll by playback.
Comment 1 Nate Graham 2021-08-20 19:50:36 UTC
The Playlist does show which track is currently playing; an icon is displayed instead of the track number, and the text becomes bold. There is a button in the toolbar to scroll to the currently playing song. Admittedly, it is an icons-only button with an incomprehensible icon, so you probably never thought to over your cursor over it to see what it does.

It’s not the same! Actually I see current track at the top of player and do not need special button just to show name of track. I need to see current position in playlist immediately.
You made very good cursor already with controls.
It’s good to make this cursor scroll playback window without controls.
When hover, cursor can show controls as it does now. You just look into window and see immediately file, like in Krusader (see screenshot).

Elisa interface

Here is how I see simple Elisa interface (see attachment).

Menu Show Playlists shows Playlists window where user can choose playlist. After choosing playlist window switches to chosen playlist. If user wants to change playlist, just press Show Playlists.

Adding tracks to current chosen playlist may be done in Files window. User just presses necessary menus.

Scrolling cursor is good option. It can show current track in Playlist and show current track in Tracks window. In Playlist window user can remove playlist item, in Tracks window user can delete track file.

Actually you integrated already nice functions into cursor. Just make it scroll without buttons in Tracks window and Playlist (if you insist on separate playlist window) maybe in gray color and let it react to hover as it is made now.
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2021-08-23 14:59:20 UTC
So you want for the Playlist to always scroll to the currently playing song?

For the main view this would not make sense since it currently does now show playback status; only the Playlist does that.
Comment 7 empyreal 2021-08-23 15:43:56 UTC
Not just currently played song... I mean cursor showing current position/track in Playlist and autoscrolling playlist. Cursor stays on current track, then it moves to next track and scrolls whole Playlist in playlist window. On and on it’s scrolling playlist track by track. In such case you can remove separate button for showing current track because it won’t make sense.

I don't understand, sorry.

We don't have an autoscrolling playlist currently, and the cursor is the thing you move around with your trackpad or mouse. You surely don't want the cursor to be automatically moved anywhere; that would be a big usability issue.

Can you clarify what exactly you want?

Cursor on track

Please, see image. You have cursor on track 8-Suydam. This cursor shows current track, always stays in the middle of playlist while playlist autoscrolls during playback.

Oh I see, you want the currently-playing track to always be *highlighted*. Got it.

If there are more elements to the request, please open additional bug reports. :)

We have autoscroll and text highlight in Toggle Party Mode - F11.
Same thing with better highlight will be good in Playlist window.
