I really like kdenlive's built in subtitle editor support but 
there is some room for improvement.

- You can only have one subtitle track without any name. I would like to modify multiple tracks or maybe use one single track but with texts of different languages which will result in multiple subtitle files.
- Whenever I change the text of the subtitle it switches to the tab of the subtitle editor and I cannot see the image of the movie anymore. This could be helpful to see how big the text looks etc.
- Container formats like MKV allow embedding subtitle files. Supporting this would be cool, too.
- I am not sure about the different subtitle formats but if there are any which support colors and specific font sizes you could support them as well.

This indeed a good idea and is work in progress (however it will take a while since it is a complex task). This is tracked at https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/1022

This depends on the layout you use and I can not reproduce with 22.04. However you can always rearrange the tabs yourself to fix this

It is now possible to export subtitles to the MKV container instead of burning them to the video: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/commit/34b1d26d5385a6262d6397d161f28f5982dc9ddc At the moment you need to checkout the nightly build to test this, it will be in version 22.08 (release in August 2022).

A basic styling of all the subtitles together is also possible in nightly builds and upcoming 22.08 as described here: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/1450 As you can read there a more advanced styling is also on our road map.

As all the features you suggested are either implemented/fix now or tracked elsewhere I am going to close your report, feel free to continue the discussion in the respective places or open new reports for other thing. Thanks again!
