SUMMARY
Not sure, it this is a fault, but having this two buttons: Open and Open Folder don't make much sense. If you cannot open content of more folders together, such a huge an well done program is basically useless.
It is really pity that it is not being done like in Digicam, because that's where I had to and up anyways...

The menu items "Open ..." and "Open folder ..." are only available in showFoto. Do you mean that?

The "Open ..." entry opens a selected image and loads it into the view. Due to user requests, the other images in the folder are also loaded into the thumbnail view.

The entry "Open folder ..." opens a folder and the first image is loaded into the view.

With Showfoto 7.4.0, a new folder view sidebar on the left side allow to navigate in local file system and explore contents. Of course, you can load images quickly in Showfoto. It's a better way to work than historic Files menu entries
