SUMMARY
I discovered a bug which appears to be overlooked that makes muting, soloing, and recording on a 4ch or 5.1ch project impossible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create new project with 4ch or 6ch audio.
2. Click on either the Mute, Solo or Record.
3. Program crashes and closes.

OBSERVED RESULT
I tried doing this under Linux Mint and Windows 10 with the same result.  I even tried the latest nightly build with the same issue.

I tested with a clip containing 8 audio channels (1440x1080i 25fps). Solo and mute doesn't lead to a crash. Please upload here the clip which leads to the crash.

I didn't put any clips in, I just created a new 1080p 29.97fps project with 5.1 audio and clicked on the mute/solo/record buttons.  Crash!
I just updated to 21.04.3 and same result.

Thanks for the info. I can confirm the crash following your steps with a new project containing 6 channels. Attached the crash log.
