SUMMARY

Occasionally the start menu launches a different program than the one I clicked on

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the start menu
2. Choose a sub-menu that has enough entries to fill the menu box. For example Applications/Internet
3. Do NOT movew your mouse. The list shows the first element selected, but the mouse pointer is further down on the list, where the submenu Internet was located
4. Carefully click the mouse, avoiding any movement

OBSERVED RESULT
The first program on the list starts

EXPECTED RESULT
The program under t he mouse cursor should start

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Debian Bullseye
Linux/KDE Plasma: Package: plasma-desktop: 4:5.20.5-4
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5-4 (probably)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

To me it looks like the start menu updates the item to be started on a mouse move event, but does not check on the click event.

Easy to work around by getting in the habit of moving the mouse before clicking, but was a tad confusing before I realized what is happening.

This is not relevant any more in the new Kickoff. It's a pity that Debian will not ship that for two more years.

Thank you for looking into this. I have reported it to Debian as

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=991069

They do have 5.21.5-1 in their 'experimental' archive, maybe it gets into 'testing' soon after Bulleye gets released, and maybe I can install it from there without messing my whole system up.
