Sorry, I meant there's no way I know of to ensure that it will work. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. I have no clue what's the reason. After startup it is the ok? 2. What is your latte version? 1. When logging in and Plasma starts, Latte starts broken as shown on the screenshot. When I restart it then with latte-dock -r, it *sometimes* has correct size, sometimes don't. 2. Now I have lattedock 0.10.75 (installed from AUR). My latte layout
I think this has something to do with Kwin effects, because the first instance of Latte started during Plasma start-up has no blur effect applied to it (despite explicitly set to have blur in settings), and auto-opened apps from restored session use wrong minimize effect for the first time they are being minimized.
Looks to be better with OpenGL 2.0 set as rendering backend in Compositor settings: now all the above happens only from time to time.
Here's a layout exported as a template. Interesting idea btw, Weather widget could be the culprit.
hm, the thing is that I started your layout six times in my system and I can not reproduce. I dont think this is related to KWin. Try to start Latte from command line with: "latte-dock -d --with-window" when the problem appears take a screenshot of Debug Window, if it does not fit in screenshot please scroll it down and take a secondary screenshot. debug window part 2
The second part.
When the issue appears if you move your dock at the left edge and back to bottom, is it fixed? No it doesn't. Interesting enough, today I started to eliminate everything more or less related to the issue and when I removed Conky, out of sudden Latte started to launch properly and I wasn't able to reproduce the issue anymore. As soon as I returned Conky back, on the next login this issue appeared again. I will now try to make Conky start delayed in order to not interfere with Latte. Will see. Good day. It's not resolved and it is not due to Conky because it happens even when Conky is not launched. There's something else and I don't know what exactly. To sum up all weird things that happen: 1. Dock has no blur, only transparency. 2. Zoom on hover works only on menu and show desktop applets, not on tasks. 3. Dock takes a lot of vertical space - much more than it needs for a 34px-sized icons. And about the same height that Conky takes, hm. But as I said, it happens even w/o Conky. 4.This is very likely to happen on Plasma start-up, like 9 out of ten times. 5. This rarely happens when executing `latte-dock -r` after Plasma is up and running, like 1 out of 10. 1. KWin bug 2. Provide your layout file 3. Enable auto size from behavior advanced settings 4,5. Use new desktop file provided for your autostarting issues I apologize. The culprit has been found during step-by-step turning of the default layout into the clone of my layout. It is a third-party Power Monitor widget. I'm closing this as resolved. |
Created attachment 139741 [details] what it looks like when clicking on Latte's "Edit dock" menu item SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT During system start-up latte-dock takes abnormally lots of vertical space. EXPECTED RESULT Vertical space should be consistent with dock's actual height. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.83.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Latte occupies a huge chunk of vertical screen space as shown on the screenshot. Note that my screen is 1920x1080 so you can see how many pixels are actually eaten by Latte. It even prevents its own settings window from being displayed correctly (also visible on the screenshot). This is especially irritating when using "Always shown" or "Windows go below" modes, since it makes clicks on windows' area drawn on that space occupied by Latte to be caught by Latte instead of those windows. This is also applicable to Latte 0.9 but that version takes less vertical space than git's one. All these started in like January / February / March (I don't remember), at first I thought "OK this is a git version will be fixed soon" but now it seems that it is kinda specific bug which does not affect many people. The only thing that helps **sometimes** is restarting Latte with 'latte-dock -r', but there's no
