This is still an issue in Plasma 5.22.3, Qt 5.15.2, Kernel 5.13.0. Behavior identical to that earlier reported. Created attachment 140034 [details]

kontact (5.17.3 (21.04.3)) using Qt 5.15.2
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Normal computer use with Kontact in the background. I also tried this with just KMail running, but same result. I seems like the same amount of time before crashing every time, but I haven't timed it exactly yet.

kontact (5.17.3 (21.04.3)) using Qt 5.15.2
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I was reading a document in Ocular when Kontact crashed in the background. Kontact reliably crashes every time a few minutes after running it. Seems to work correctly before the crash. This behavior has been consistent for several weeks.

Same as before. I was browsing and doing file management when Kontact crashed after a few minutes in the background. Very consistent behavior every time that Kontact is opened.

kontact (5.16.2 (20.12.2)) using Qt 5.15.2
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I have Kontact opened but wasn't actively using it. I can reproduce this 100% of the time. After a certain amount of time (approximately 5 minutes, I haven't exactly timed it yet) Kontact crashes. It doesn't matter if it's just "sitting there" in the foreground, background or if I'm actively using it.
