SUMMARY
Whenever I make a selection with the magic wand tool, I cannot invert my selection. When I try, it just deletes/deselects the whole thing like it never happened.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make selection within/outside of shape (Heart is what I'm trying to do)
2. selection ends up on outside of closed shape along the border of the canvas
3. either use (Control + Shift + i) shortcut or direct "Invert selection" Command in the selection menu

OBSERVED RESULT

Selection goes away entirely and looks like it never happened despite fiddling with the settings

EXPECTED RESULT

It should've just inverted the selection but doesn't

Magic wand tool also Just selects entire canvas instead of specified area. Tested with a solid circle made with a tool and tried the wand. ignored the entire circle and selected the entire canvas

You probably mean the 'Contiguous Selection Tool' and that works ok for me using version 4.4.5. I doubt that it doesn't work on 4.4.0 but please update to 4.4.5.

In the Tool Options docker, do you have Action set to Replace? If not, try that.

It may be that there is a misunderstanding about how it's supposed to work so please go to https://krita-artists.org/ (sign up and sign in are needed) and start a New Topic to explain your problem/situation.
That is a suitable forum for back and forth discussion and the easy display of images.

Hi, aaronorbe123!

Perhaps you have too high value set in "Fuzziness" field in the Tool Options docker? It would explain why the magic wand selects entire canvas for you (and therefore degrading inversion into a simple deselect).

Can you try reducing the fuzziness value?
