Screenshots showing warning and progress bar

SUMMARY
The program occasionally hangs whilst synchronising metadata.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Apply tags to over 100 images
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT

The progress bar reaches 100%, but the program won't allow me to do anything. It displays "Other Processes have not finished please try later".
I waited several minutes, but nothing changed.
EXPECTED RESULT
The program releases the database when progress bar reaches 100%, allowing other actions to be taken.

Download DebugView from Microsoft and post the output when tags are added to the images and the progress bar hangs, as described here also for Windows:

https://www.digikam.org/contribute/

Don't forget to set the debug environment variable.

You can also test the current snapshot from digiKam-7.3.0 to see if the problem still exists.

I installed 7.3.0 and the error still occurred.
I copied several tags to another tag, which had children that duplicate
some, or all, of the tags. The highlighted tags were dragged to Pets|Cats,
then I clicked "Move", and OK to merge the tags with the existing tags.
How can I provide debug data?

Steve

Comment 5 Steve Franks 2021-06-09 12:41:22 UTC
Copied several tags to different parent that already had some, or all, of those tags.
Replied "Move" to Move/Merge, OK to Merge with existing. Progress stuck on 100%, tags do not appear to have been changed.
The program will allow me to apply the correct tags and delete the old tags, but the Synchronising image metadata with database bar is still displayed at 100%.

Steve,

Stable digiKam 7.4.0 Windows Installer is published. Please check if problem is
reproducible.

Thanks in advance
